Reason #364 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: Speaking In Tongues
Wow, 135 posts down the drain and not one mention of Talking Heads yet? For shame! OK, I’ll be blunt: this was my first Talking Heads purchase and remains my #1 pick by these guys for sentimental reasons. Not that it’s a bad album, objectively speaking, it’s damn good and contains their best song (This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)). Critics will tell you that it’s the Eno assisted Remain In Light that’s the pick, and I am sure it’ll make an appearance on this list eventually. But Burning Down The House remains one of the best and most subversive hits of the decade, and the rest is just the best damn mutant geek-funk you’ll ever hear.
