Reason #369 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: Radio Silence
Blue Peter. If you’ve heard of this obscure new wave/power pop band from Canada I’ll be super impressed, because even though they had talent coming out of their ears , wrote edgy pop songs perfect for early MTV, had a great lead singer (Paul Humphrey, vocally a cross between Bryan Ferry and Simon Le Bon), they just never broke through. This decade is littered with talentless bands who are still going strong and even more that were super talented yet died too soon (like the Spoons—hey Rob!). Radio Silence was their “break out” album, containing the propulsive title track, the mid tempo Video Verite, and the dramatic Take Me To War are just a few examples of the stellar stuff that’s on offer here.
If you can find it, snatch it up.
