Reason #381 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: This Is Big Audio Dynamite
When Joe Strummer kicked Mick Jones out of the Clash I think I had my money onThe Clash being the more successful of the two. Of course the “new, vital’ Clash sucked and released the awful but perfectly titled Cut The Crap and Mick Jones formed the groundbreaking B.A.D. and released this debut, which was amazingly fresh sounding and ended up as a very influential little album. Anyone that includes snippets of dialogue in between and in the midst of their songs (Saint Etienne, PWEI, etc) owes them a debt. It may sound dated now, but I still think that Medicine Show is one of the top 50 songs of the decade, and Sony, E=MC2 the title track and especially The Bottom Line still retain their exuberance.
