Reason #404 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: Signals

Rush-SignalsThe last Rush entry you’ll ever see here? Not bloody likely! I haven’t yet mentioned Permanant Waves, their excellent 2nd official live album Exit Stage Left, and the rest of their ’80s output Is rapidly growing on me as I rediscover Rush’s “wilderness years”. Signals may not be Moving Pictures good, but it’s good nonetheless. New World Man was Rush branching out into territory occupied by The Police, but it was a decent stab and a pretty good pop song to boot. Subdivisions ranks as one of Rush’s Top 10 songs ever, and Countdown, while a little dated, is a pretty terrific synth driven atmospheric number, and the Analog Kid just rocks. Lastly, you just have to love that cover!
