Reason #415 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: Element Of Light
If you’re going to start anywhere in the massive Robyn Hitchcock discography you may as well start here. This is by far the best of the early Hitchcock and the Egyptians albums, containing many classics such as If You Were A Priest, The President and Tell Me About Your Drugs. That last one may or may not have appeared on the original release. It may have been added to the Yep Roc reissue, but I can’t be sure. Anyway, it’s on my copy and that’s all that counts. It’s a great song. Close your eyes while listening to this and you can imagine this as a 1966 Beatles album, minus Paul McCartney. Mostly everything Hitchcock has released is worth listening to, but this is one of the best of the best of the best!
