Reason #440 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: Revenge Of The Nerds Musical Number
I’ve got a soft spot for the 80’s movie Revenge Of The Nerds. Whenever it comes on the television I have to sit down and watch it. For those who have never seen it, here’s the jist: a bunch of nerdy types (read: smart) go to college and move into a dilapidated home and subsequently clean it up. They’re persecuted by the jocks and decide to get even with them by winning an annual competition that would give them control over the student body. This being an ‘80’s teen movie there’s lots of nudity, puerile jokes about bodily functions and lots and lots of hysterically funny, albeit very dated, moments throughout. One of my favorite lines is when one of the nerds (Booger) is standing outside the frat house and the jocks drive by. The conversation is short and sounds something like this:
Jocks: “What are you lookin’ at, nerd?!?”
Booger: “Well, I thought it was my grandmother’s old douche bag, but that’s back in Ohio.”
In order to win the competition, the nerds decide to put on a little musical number. They, of course, win and everyone’s happy at the end. Here’s that musical number for you all to take a look at. You’ll notice visual homage’s to Devo, Thomas Dolby and even Michael Jackson in there.
