Reason #465 Why The ’80’s Didn’t Suck: Soundclash

Before house and techno took off in the early ’90’s there was Soundclash by Renegade Soundwave. Certainly one of the pioneers of the rock/techno hybrid genre, Renegade Soundwave made a glorious noise back in 1989 with Soundclash. Without this album there would be no Chemical Brothers, no Prodigy, no Daft Punk, no…well, just about any other popular techno artist that came after. Maybe that’s a bit of an overstatement, but these guys did almost everything first and, with the possible exception of Pop Will Eat Itself’s This Is The Day, This Is The Hour, This…Is This! (and maybe some early stuff from the KLF), did it better. They’re often forgotten and definitely criminally underrated. Check out the video for Biting My Nails below.
